‘Oasis’ handpainted silk satin devoré dress Carole Waller archive
A fantastic halter neck dress designed by Janice Wainwright. The black painted silk viscose satin is imprinted with box shapes in gold and greys which are transparent as the devoré printing process etches away some of the satin surface. The fabric is delicate and must be treated very carefully or the transparent areas will tear. The shape is asymmetric and slips over the head. Made in 2001 as part of a collection called ‘Oasis’ – and sold through Harvey Nichols and Liberty in London.
The dress fits a UK 8/10 and US 6/8
Dry clean or wash gently by hand.
Each garment and scarf by Carole Waller is unique. They are handpainted and screenprinted by me at my studio just outside Bath. I use my fabrics as unprimed ‘canvases’ and the paintings evolve as I work so no two pieces are the same. I welcome visitors anytime, by appointment. The studio and small showroom is at our home 4 miles east of Bath on the A4, with good parking and a warm welcome. Waller and Wood also shows beautiful stoneware ceramics by Gary Wood.
