Carole Waller handpainted silk noil Indian shirt dress ‘Clouds’. It is an unstructured elegant long shirt dress, silk noil is noted for its matte finish and slightly textured weave. It has painted buttons down the front and a slightly upright collar and side slits in the seams – plus side pockets. It can be worn many ways as a dress, shirt, tunic over trousers or as a long jacket.
The colours include sandy yellows and cream, blush pinks, washed greys, white, slate.
‘Clouds’ is a collection of unique painted garments by Carole Waller. The stormy Spring weather of 2024 has shown us remarkable cloud formations moving swiftly across each other and occasionally resting with dramatic contrasts of light and dark. These have been mesmerising – and fascinating in their restlessness. These paintings have no screenprint or narrative, just drawn line, movement and colour in an exploration of cross-currents, light and dark, change and infinity.
