Carole Waller handpainted Geena jacket ‘Woodland’
This is a modern boxy cut jacket with patch pockets and a little collar with buttons through the front and at the cuffs.
It is made in a heavy weight silk crepe, drapey and soft. It is very dark grey, almost black, with bright pinks, yellows and rust into orange – with marks of lemon yellow and moss.
This piece is part of a collection called ‘Container’ which explores the idea of being contained or held in a garment as the cloth protects and surrounds the body with colour and light. The idea was inspired by the ceramic artwork and poems by Gary Wood. ‘Fill your house with delight’ – and it will fill your wardrobe with colour.
The group called ‘Woodland’ began when I was amongst beautiful mature trees through which light permeated and at the end of which a bright patch of sunlight blazed. This was then mirrored by a similar silhouette of sky contained by trees at the top of my own hillside garden. So all the paintings in this section are abstract and attempt to capture the sense of the dark and light.Carole Waller handpainted pink shawl collar jacket ‘Woodland’

Carole Waller art to wear:
Each garment and scarf by Carole Waller is unique. I handpaint and screenprint each piece at my studio just outside Bath. I use my fabrics as unprimed ‘canvases’ and the paintings evolve as I work, so no two pieces are the same.
I also make bespoke commissions. Although I cannot colour match, I can promise you a unique artwork. Visitors welcome anytime, by appointment, to look at the collections, purchase or commission work.
Waller and Wood is our gallery name from the time we had a retail space in Bath between 2015 and 2020. My studio and small showroom is now at our home 4 miles east of Bath on the A4, with good parking and a warm welcome.
The code for this piece is G13
