‘Abbey’ handpainted silk satin bias slip dress Carole Waller archive

The bias cut of this slip dress means that it shapes itself to the figure in a most flattering way because the fabric becomes slightly stretchy when cut on the diagonal. It’s one of the most most recent pieces from my archive and was made in 2016 when we had our gallery in Bath. The screenprinted images are from plans and photographs of the Roman Baths here. The painted colours are a shimmering blue, gold, greens, pinks and rust.
Measurements are approximate as the dress length will vary depending on the shape of your figure but it fits an 8/10 UK 6/8 USA : Backlength : 124cm/48″ Bust : approx 86cm/34″
Dry clean or wash gently by hand.
Each garment and scarf by Carole Waller is unique. They are handpainted and screenprinted by me at my studio just outside Bath. I use my fabrics as unprimed ‘canvases’ and the paintings evolve as I work so no two pieces are the same. I welcome visitors anytime, by appointment.
