‘Storm’ Carole Waller painted green silk ladies shirt
This is a classic unstructured ladies shirt style with a collar, yoke at the back and a centre back pleat, with painted buttons down the front and at the cuff.
The colours include sage green , raspberry m pinks, purples, slate and oranges. The cloth is silk crepe de chine which is a beautiful classic mid weight silk. It has a fine twisted yarn and plain weave, and consequently a lovely drape and soft feel.
‘Clouds’ is a collection of unique painted garments by Carole Waller. The stormy Spring weather of 2024 has shown us remarkable cloud formations moving swiftly across each other and occasionally resting with dramatic contrasts of light and dark. These have been mesmerising – and fascinating in their restlessness. The paintings have no screenprint or narrative, just drawn line, movement and colour in an exploration of cross-currents, light and dark, change and infinity.

My technique is to handpaint and screenprint each piece at the studio – which is just outside Bath. My fabrics are unprimed ‘canvases’ and the paintings evolve as I work, and consequently no two pieces are the same. I also make bespoke commissions. Although I cannot colour match, I can promise you a unique artwork. Visitors are welome anytime, by appointment. Waller and Wood is our gallery name from the time we had a retail space in Bath between 2015 and 2020.
