‘John’ handpainted silk velvet tunic Carole Waller
John looks at himself with eyes closed – lots of early work featured heads and this is one of my favourites. I’m not sure what year it was made but during the 1990’s.
It is painted on silk viscose velvet with the heads screenprinted into the cloth in almost black amongst shades of black to silver grey and some white. The back is abstract .
Silk velvet tunic approximate measurements :
Back length 88cm/34”
Bust 112cm/44”
Shoulder to shoulder 40cm/15.5”
Sleeve 55cm/21.5”
Handwash and spin and tumble dry to bring up the pile – or dry clean.
Carole Waller art to wear:
Each garment and scarf by Carole Waller is unique. They are handpainted and screenprinted by me at my studio just outside Bath. I use my fabrics as unprimed ‘canvases’ and the paintings evolve as I work so no two pieces are the same. I welcome visitors anytime, by appointment. The studio and small showroom is at our home 4 miles east of Bath on the A4, with good parking and a warm welcome. Waller and Wood also shows beautiful stoneware ceramics by Gary Wood.
