‘Oasis’ handpainted silk satin butterfly jacket Carole Waller archive
A couture number – this is a jacket many lined 25cm squares of silk viscose devore satin sewn meticulously together with small organza straps. It behaves like a butterfly around the shoulders and the fabric is etched with a drawn image of a window in Morocco and then painted in cobalt blues, purples and pinks, lined with electric blue. It was made around 2001.
Approximate Measurements as it moves too much to be accurate! :

Each garment and scarf by Carole Waller is unique. They are handpainted and screenprinted by me at my studio just outside Bath. I use my fabrics as unprimed ‘canvases’ and the paintings evolve as I work so no two pieces are the same. I welcome visitors anytime, by appointment. The studio and small showroom is at our home 4 miles east of Bath on the A4, with good parking and a warm welcome. Waller and Wood also shows beautiful stoneware ceramics by Gary Wood.
