‘Peru’ handpainted silk satin devoré coat Carole Waller archive

A floaty painted silk viscose satin coat painted with dramatic bright pink on white. The devoré printing process etches away some of the satin surface to create areas of transpaency in the shimmery cloth. The fabric is delicate and must be treated carefully or the transparent areas will tear.  Made in 2002 as part of a collection called ‘Peru’ – and sold through Harvey Nichols and Liberty in London. It is shown with a matching slip dress which comes free if you buy this piece as it has some marks on it. The fabric is very fragile so its a party piece not to be sat down in !

Carole Waller art to wear:

Each garment and scarf by Carole Waller is unique. They are handpainted and screenprinted by me at my studio just outside Bath. I use my fabrics as unprimed ‘canvases’ and the paintings evolve as I work so no two pieces are the same. I welcome visitors anytime, by appointment. The studio and small showroom is at our home 4 miles east of Bath on the A4, with good parking and a warm welcome. Waller and Wood also shows beautiful stoneware ceramics by Gary Wood.
