Carole Waller handpainted silk velvet ‘Indian’ shirt ‘Glider’ – with a round neck collar and a belt.
The ‘Glider’ collection was inspired by walking the Malvern Hills and looking at the texture of the English landscape. The hills look out at Wales to the West, Warwickshire and Worcestershire to the East and you can see both ways from the topmost ridge. Paragliders watch, wait and launch into the air. The clean clear colours of the fabric wings floating in the atmosphere above green and grey of the countryside is captivating to watch, and informed the ideas in this collection. The overlapping shapes evoke the texture of the landscape in blacks, browns, and greys.
