Painted in vibrant colours and slate grey/black onto silk doupion which stands away from the body, this is a boxy top with raglan sleeves, a button at the back neck and a small upright collar at the throat. The ‘Santa Maria’ group of scarves and clothes were a direct attempt to paint the colours and effects of sunlight pouring through stained glass windows on the the walls, columns and floor of the church. Part of a collection inspired by paintings in the Uffizi Gallery, Florentine streets, doorways, churches and colours, corrugated metal gates and sparkling sunshine. ‘ The woman who knew too much’ is to be found, staring out of the painting straight into the eyes of the onlooker – in Masaccio’s ‘ Holy Trinity painting in Santa Maria Novella.Worn with shoes from ChaniiB in Bath and a  one of a kind printed aluminium cuff by Annie Beardsley/Carole Waller.
